UMFPL Pandemic Response latest update effective June 29, 2021

Effective August 16, 2021 Update:
With Montgomery County in Substantial or High rates of transmission UMFPL is currently requiring masks inside the building for all vaccinated and vaccinated individuals, as per Montgomery County Office of Public Health County Masking Recommendation for guidance on changes to masking.

During the Pandemic UMFPL will follow guidelines outlined by the PA Governor, Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Montgomery County Office of Public Health, or UMFPL Board of Trustees as appropriate for the situation.

With the Library open 7 days a week there's no need for an appointment for Curbside Pickup.

  • Park in the 15 minute spots directly opposite the library entrance.
  • Call the library at 215-659-0741 and provide your library card number (or the card number of the person you're picking up for) and description of your vehicle.
  • Staff will check your materials out to you and deliver them to your open trunk or the empty back seat of your car.

You can apply for a library card online by filling out our Library Card application found HERE! Once you have filled out the form send it to us via email along with proof of address (a photo of your PA Driver's License, utility bill, lease agreement, etc.) to [email protected]. We will mail your  card to you home address.

UMFPL is a Fine Free library!

  • Overdue fees are not charges for late materials*
  • As a courtesy to others please return or renew by their due date whenever possible
  • Items not returned within 5 weeks of the due date will be billed to your account, which may result in restricting any further use of your card
    • *Loanable electronics and museum passes are charged a $5 per day fee when not returned on time

Yes, our exterior book drop is open 27/7. Items will be checked-in by the next business day after being returned. Items can also now be returned in the inside drop during library hours.

Yes, the Library's WiFi signal has been adjusted to reach outside the building (on the patio near the Library's main entrance)! The network is called UMFPL and there is no password required but you do need to accept the usage policy every time you connect!
